At KO Brasil in Cumubuco you will have 20 knotts of steady wind everyday from 8am, 27 degress of average temperature and endless, deserted, white sandy beaches…

If you like waves, you will have plenty of them in front of our Pousada… if you are more into New School tricks there is the flat-water lagoon “Lagoa do Cauipe” not far from the pousada.

Most Importantly the Kite Obsession team will be there to give you a helping hand whenever you need any assistance and will be happy to recommend the best Kite Spots, restaurants, bars and anything you need to know in the area.

Kite Lessons in Cumbuco
El Brasil is probably THE PLACE in the world for kiting, and where you will learn quickest. The wind has the perfect strenght and steadiness to learn and improve. In addittion, there is almost no one around you, so you have plenty of space for yourself.

KITE LESSONS AT KO BRASIL

Our lessons in Cumbuco are as follows:

  • Either private or two people. No more than that.
  • We use Radio Helmets.
  • The price is 50€/hour. All gear included. We also take you to the Lagoa (lagoon) whenever necessary.


DOWNWINDERS

What is a Downwinder?
A downwinder is the nicest way of riding...

it is letting yourself go with the wind, to try tricks without having to worry about coming back to where you started from. It is to travel from one point to point with a Kite!!! You will be enjoying every single second of your Session!!

The Downwinders of KO Brasil
You will start in front of La Pousada. There, 7 kilometers of desertic beaches...

  • Part One. JUMPS AND TRICKS: right in front of the house.  Choppy water without waves, very good for jumps and trying new tricks
  • Part Two. WAVES:  waves begin 1,5 kilometers after Cumbuco. Around the small village Saint Tropez there are both lefties and righties.Later on, the highest waves of the downwinder can be found at Pico das Almas right in front of a picturesque PalmTree Forest. At the end of this PalmTree Forest you eill come to the flat-water lagoon “la Lagoa do Cauipe
  • Part Three. RECHARGE BATTERIES: At this point you will have already surfed some ace waves and practised your jump and Freestyle skills. It is a good moment to bring your kite down for a second. Look for Tomais, a street food saleman who offers “fresh frozen coconut juices”… Energetic and great tasting!! Spectacular!!!
  • Part Four. La Lagoa FOR FLAT WATER LOVERS: At the Lagoa (lagoon) you have got the best conditions to improve your riding safely. Just bear in mind it is best to go early. At certain times of the day it can get quite crowded, as water is so perfectly flat and the wind conditions ideal.
  • Part Five. HEAD BACK HOME FOR A REST:You can take a Buggy back home for just 3 euros or so. At the Pousada you can relax in the Pool while you enjoy a nice fruit juice.
 
 
Travel Advice


Visas:

No Visas are required for european citizens. You are permitted to stay up to three months in the country as a tourist. If you are looking to stay longer you have to go to the offices of the Federal Police in the airport. You will not have much of a problem in obtaining three extra months of permission.
However 6 months is the most you can stay in Brasil as a tourist.

VERY IMPORTANT: the passport control burocracy in Brazilian airports is extremely slow. It can take up to two and a half hours. So we strongly recommend that when you get off the plane you run towards passport control. Yes, do run!!! You can cut down the waiting time to "only" 30 or 40 minutes

Travel Route and Airplane Company

Your destination airport has to be the Pinto Martin Internacional, in Fortaleza. Nowadays the best option is probably flying with TAP (The Portugues Airline Transportes A éreos Portugal) from Lisbon. So it is probably best to check your connection to that city from your home town.
Apart from that, and also departing from Lisbon, there is the TACV (Transportes Aéreos Cape Verde). This is a cheaper option, but much more risky. Delays or loss of baggage/kite equipment are a frequent occurence.


Once in fortaleza. How to get to Cumbuco?

Cumbuco is just a 35min drive from Fortaleza. Give us all the details of your arrival time and flight and we will organise a trust worthy Taxi Driver to pick you up (taxi fares are not included in the accomadation prices)
If you need to exchange some currency, the airport itself is a good place. The exchange rate is usually good there, as you will not find it much better on the streets. You can also withdraw money from cash machines, but you notice that during the night there is limit of 100r$ (35€) to what you can withdraw.

What clothes should you bring?

As few as possible! Brazil is quite warm, most of the time you will be in your swimming gear and a t-shirt… A lot of the time you will find yourself walking barefoot. Clothes in Brazil are really quite cheap so if you are missing something you will find it there at a very good price.

Once there ¿Where to eat ?

In Cumbuco:

  • ACL: delicious chicken. Typical Brazilian.
  • 0031: Asian/European Fusion.
  • Sabor de Praia:Very good. From lobster to fish or outstanding meta as the “picaña argentina”.


    • In Fortaleza:
  • Cheller: eat as much as you want for a really affordable price.
  • Bancha: Japanese food priced by weight. Very affordable.
  • Ryori: really good sashimi and sushi in one of  Fortalza’s most elegant areas. The best quality.

I think from travelling around the Ceará region that NACHO YUSTE has the most comfortable beds, biggest, most filling and healthy breakfast in all of Ceará!!  Oh and of course just walking out of the pousada directly on to the beach at the perfect point to start the down wind to the lagoon is a mega bonus!! Your hospitality and super important local kite knowledge of what’s good and what’s not and where to avoid (and the very valuable secret spot knowledge!!) made such a difference to the holiday…it meant we kited in the best spots, at the best time of day and found the best possible waves on deserted beaches!!!!!!!!
